The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization brings together the business, civic, and other professional communities to promote public safety initiatives by providing financial and in-kind resources to the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office. We seek to expand public safety awareness by advancing public safety policy and community outreach objectives. Our mission is simple, but critical; to provide supplemental resources in technology, training, and equipment for local law enforcement to fight crime and enhance community engagement initiatives in Atlantic County. The programs we fund are ultimately intended to enhance overall public safety and help build stronger relationships between the community and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office.

The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc. believes that the safety of our neighborhoods in Atlantic County is a civic responsibility that each and every one of us shares. In addition, we believe the Sheriff’s Foundation objectives will translate into clear, tangible benefits for both the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and for all stakeholders within our region.

As stated by Atlantic County Sheriff, Eric Scheffler and Executive Director, William Mazur; “Working in cooperation with the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc, the Foundation’s Board of Directors will lead efforts to raise additional funds to help the Sheriff’s Office secure the best resources needed to serve and protect the citizens of Atlantic County, and also to foster stronger relationships with the communities we serve. The business and philanthropic leaders serving on the Board of Directors will be committed to advancing the foundation to achieve these goals… we will be stronger together and we will operate in a bi-partisan manner to get the job done”.

Our goal is to make Atlantic County a safer place to live, work and visit through the fulfillment of public safety initiatives and by displaying strong leadership to support those who serve with honor.

 Our “HOPE ONE” initiative.

The “HOPE ONE” mobile response unit will offer critical support for persons struggling with addiction. The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Community Services Unit will operate the mobile unit with our partners.  The “HOPE ONE” vehicle will travel   to locations throughout Atlantic County providing services to persons in need. A Sheriff’s officer, a certified peer recovery specialist – who understand the needs of those suffering with addiction and who can triage individuals in crisis, will staff the vehicle.

In addition, Narcan kits and training will be provided to family members and friends of those suffering with an opioid addiction. The specialists staffing the van will also maintain communications with treatment centers, so they can track available beds, in real time, in the event they encounter an individual who is in immediate need of treatment.  Our goal is to provide direct assistance to people regardless of their socioeconomic status or condition.

The intent of the “HOPE ONE” mobile unit is to remove barriers for people in need of services and eliminate the stigma associated with seeking help. The mobile unit will be a caring, non-judgmental environment for any resident of Atlantic County seeking safety and treatment guidance and support.

Sheriff Eric Scheffler
